Apparently there's some general ugliness with syncing hosted exchange emails and calendar to a Motorola Droid (1st generation). The guys at Appriver, a hosted exchange provider, said this: "To make ActiveSync (the service that connects the device to Hosted Exchange) happy, it needed to be the first account set up on the phone. The VERY FIRST. Which means, if you just took the phone out of the box, you would cancel the Google account setup prompt you get when activating the device, set up Exchange, and then go back and set up Google and all of your other accounts."
Here's what you should try first before resetting your phone, however:
1. Delete the Exchange account under "Settings|Accounts and Sync" 2. Delete the calendar data by going into Settings, Applications, and selecting both Calendar and Calendar Storage, then deleting data. Don't worry, your existing Google calendar info will be re-downloaded next sync. 3. Re-add the exchange account. Everything should work fine now.
If anyone else has run across this or has this issue, let us know!
