Flooding in Thailand Impacts Global Hard Drive Market

Thailand exports nearly 40% of the world's market of hard drives, providing hard drive parts to the largest manufacturers in the game. In the last week, we have seen a 45% increase in price to consumer level hard drives and the prices are still rising. Some fabrication plants are under water and 1,000 facilities have been forced to stop production all together. As we enter the holiday purchasing season, computer and laptop prices will surely increase for PC and Apple consumers.

According to most production facilities, we should not see market recovery until March 2012.
