Dell is offering deals on Office 365 Personal Edition for $69 or less. You have to read the tiny type to see that it is an annual subscription for 1 PC or Mac, plus a tablet or iPad install. It does include Outlook, which may tip the scales, but if you don't care about Outlook, it's not a good deal when you can buy the Office Home and Student version outright for $119 or better yet the Office 365 Home version for $99 (annual subscription) which includes Outlook and the installs for FIVE PC's or Macs. Microsoft seems to want to get 2 things, a steady flow of money annually and also it's users running the current version of Office. Of course, if a person quit paying the subscription, the Office basically turns into a 'reader' and disallows the ability to edit or create documents.
In my opinion, if you need Office for a few PC's buy an Office 365 Home package for 5 computers for $99. If you only need Word, Excel and Powerpoint for one PC, buy it outright. I'm not sure the $69 personal version is a good deal after only 2 short years.
